Sheet Metal Estimator

A Leading Mechanical Contractor is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator to support commercial and industrial HVAC construction projects in Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will prepare detailed estimates for sheet metal and ductwork scopes, complete quantity takeoffs, develop labor and material pricing, review fabrication requirements, evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations, and collaborate with preconstruction, engineering, project management, and field operations teams.

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial sheet metal and HVAC construction projects.
• Review mechanical drawings, ductwork plans, specifications, bid documents, and project scopes.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for ductwork, fittings, accessories, equipment connections, insulation, and related sheet metal scopes.
• Develop labor, material, fabrication, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Evaluate sheet metal fabrication requirements and installation conditions during the estimating process.
• Solicit and analyze vendor, supplier, equipment, and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, clarifications, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals with clearly documented assumptions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, scope reviews, and bid strategy meetings.
• Coordinate with engineering and design teams on design-build and design-assist HVAC projects.
• Support Project Managers and Operations during project turnover following award.
• Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

• Strong sheet metal and HVAC estimating experience within commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction.
• Experience with a mechanical contractor, sheet metal contractor, MEP contractor, or specialty trade contractor.
• Strong knowledge of ductwork systems, fittings, accessories, fabrication, and installation methods.
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC and sheet metal drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience performing detailed takeoffs and developing labor, material, fabrication, and equipment pricing.
• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and field installation requirements.
• Experience with Bluebeam, Trimble, Accubid, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar estimating software is preferred.
• Experience with design-build and design-assist mechanical construction is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Relevant construction, mechanical, or engineering education is preferred but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
