Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects in the Pittsburgh market. This position requires strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, sheet metal, fabrication, and design-build construction, along with the ability to manage projects from estimating and preconstruction through execution, completion, and closeout. The ideal candidate will combine technical mechanical construction knowledge with strong project leadership, financial management, client communication, and field coordination skills.

• Lead commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects from estimating and preconstruction through completion and closeout.
• Manage HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, fabrication, and design-build project scopes.
• Prepare estimates, support sales efforts, develop customer relationships, and assist with targeted business development activities.
• Review project proposals and proactively follow up with clients regarding open opportunities.
• Review and negotiate contract language and project requirements to ensure acceptable commercial terms.
• Set up awarded projects with detailed estimate breakdowns, vendor quotations, scopes of work, and supporting documentation.
• Develop and maintain project schedules while coordinating subcontractor activities, equipment deliveries, procurement, and field progress.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets, change orders, and overall profitability throughout project execution.
• Develop detailed scopes of work for subcontractors and coordinate material and equipment purchases.
• Work closely with field leadership, engineering, estimating, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to maintain project performance.
• Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Ensure project work complies with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and permitting requirements.
• Manage project billing, collections, invoice reviews, and discrepancies to support positive project cash flow.
• Prepare conceptual estimates and provide preconstruction support when required.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.

• Extensive experience managing commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, fabrication, and mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from estimating and planning through execution and closeout.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
• Candidates without a degree should have 10+ years of construction or service operations experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, cost control, scheduling, procurement, contracts, billing, and profitability.
• Knowledge of construction service, maintenance, and warranty operations.
• Experience coordinating project teams, field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Experience with HVAC and plumbing construction strongly preferred.
