Plumbing Estimator

A Leading Mechanical Contractor is seeking an experienced Plumbing Estimator to support commercial and industrial construction projects in Pittsburgh. This role will focus on preparing detailed and competitive plumbing estimates, performing quantity takeoffs, reviewing plans and specifications, developing labor and material pricing, soliciting vendor and subcontractor quotations, and supporting projects through the preconstruction and bidding process.

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial plumbing construction projects.
• Review plumbing drawings, specifications, bid documents, addenda, and project requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for plumbing fixtures, piping, equipment, materials, labor, and related project scopes.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing for competitive bids.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor, supplier, and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, exclusions, clarifications, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals with clearly defined assumptions and scope inclusions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, bid reviews, and project strategy meetings.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, preconstruction, and operations teams.
• Support design-build and design-assist plumbing projects when required.
• Assist with project turnover from estimating to operations following successful awards.
• Manage multiple estimating assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

• Strong experience estimating commercial and/or industrial plumbing construction projects.
• Experience with a mechanical contractor, MEP contractor, plumbing contractor, or specialty trade contractor.
• Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing labor and material costs.
• Knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, equipment, piping materials, and installation requirements.
• Experience soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Experience with Bluebeam, Trimble, Accubid, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar estimating software is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously.
• Relevant construction, engineering, or estimating education is preferred but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
